Clearing Your Energy at Home: Simple Practices That Help

← All posts

People ask about spiritual cleansing more than you'd expect — usually after a stretch where everything feels heavy, stuck, or off. Here are practices you can do yourself, at home, with what you already have.

Start with the physical space

This sounds mundane, and it's the one that works most reliably. Clutter holds stagnation. Open the windows, move the air, clear a surface completely. Many people notice a shift before doing anything ceremonial at all.

Smoke, salt, and sound

Different traditions reach for different tools. Burning herbs is common — if you use white sage, buy from Indigenous-owned sources, since it's overharvested and sacred to communities it was taken from. Rosemary, cedar, and bay leaf are older European alternatives.

Salt in the corners of a room, or a salt bath for yourself, is one of the oldest clearing practices there is. Sound works too: a bell, a bowl, even clapping into the corners of a room where air feels dead.

Clearing yourself, not just the room

After a difficult day, run cold water over your wrists and the back of your neck. Change clothes when you get home. Wash your hands with intention. These small acts mark a boundary between what happened out there and where you are now — and your mind takes the cue.

When to ask for help

Home practice handles ordinary heaviness. When something feels persistent — the same blockage returning, a space that never feels right, a pattern you can't shake — that's when a spiritual cleansing session or reading is worth doing with someone else.

A note: energy work supports wellbeing, it doesn't replace medical or mental health care. If you're struggling, please also talk to a doctor or therapist.
